Learn how to manage permissions in Votonic
Overview
Votonic permissions integrate directly with your existing Discord permission roles, making it easy to control which users have access to different parts of your community.
Privileges
Privileges are a way to determine who has access to what in your community. Each privilege has a permissions role that determines which users have access to it.
Votonic supports the following privileges:
View Community
Controls who can view your community's Votonic page. Defaults to public.
Vote on Posts
Controls who can vote on posts. Defaults to logged in users.
Comment on Posts
Controls who can comment on posts. Defaults to logged in users.
Moderator
Moderators can manage posts and comments with abilities to:
- Edit and delete any posts or comments
- Update post statuses (e.g. "Under Review", "Planned", "Completed")
- Merge duplicate posts
- Pin important comments
- Ban users
Defaults to users with 'Manage Server' permissions in Discord.
Administrator
Administrators have full control over your community's Votonic page. Administrators can modify all of your community's settings.
Defaults to users with 'Manage Server' permissions in Discord.
This is a powerful privilege and should be granted carefully.
Permission Roles
Permission roles determine which users have access to which features:
Public
Any user, including those who are not logged in.
Logged In
All users who are logged in to Votonic.
Discord Members
All users who are members of your Discord server. This is useful for restricting certain permissions to only your Discord members.
Discord Roles
Users with specific Discord roles that you select.
Discord Admin
Users who have 'Manage Server' permissions in your Discord server.
